Philosophy

At Schoolhouse Family Day Care we believe that:

Every child is a capable learner.

Learning to be independent is an important step in developing a sense of agency. We encourage children to challenge themselves, make mistakes and experience success in their day to day activities.

We are part of, and care for our community.

We model and guide social skill development through quality, nurturing relationships with children. Children are supported to engage appropriately with a variety of peers as well as people in our local community.

Outdoor play is important.

The natural environment is a wonderful learning resource which provides children with the opportunity to make their own decisions and take considered risks. Our lovely, bushy setting provides the perfect opportunity for children to explore the world around them in unstructured play.

Working in connection with families is essential.

Children benefit from supportive partnerships between daycare and home. We foster these connections through frequent communication with parents. Parents are also invited to be involved in a variety of our programs.

It is never too early to be introduced to literacy.

We love books! As well as reading to children each day, we provide an age appropriate pre-literacy program which helps children to form the building blocks required for becoming literate.

The wellbeing of children is our priority.

We want Schoolhouse Family Day Care to be a safe and enjoyable place to be for all children. We adhere to the Child Safe Standards.
