Programs

With a background in teaching, I specialise in programs for children aged 2 and over.

There are a limited number of places available for children under 2.

There are always new and fun things to do at Schoolhouse Family Day Care. We are constantly planning excursions and interesting activities to keep the children engaged. You can be sure that each of these activities will be:

  • Planned and delivered by a qualified teacher.
  • Based on the Early Years Learning Framework to provide a high quality learning experience.
  • Personalized and created for each individual child based on their interests, skills and stage of development.

What makes us different?

We offer several ongoing programs that are unique to Schoolhouse FDC. Children (and their families) are able to participate in these programs frequently as part of our daily routine.

Pet Care

We have a large chicken coop in our yard and the children are encouraged to be involved in caring for our chickens. Children will learn to reduce waste by feeding kitchen scraps to the chooks, and help to collect the eggs each morning. We even use those eggs in some cooking activities so that the children can experience a sense of accomplishment and be rewarded for their efforts.

Book Borrowing Library

Want to encourage a love of reading in your child but don't have time to get to the library? Borrow from our very own Schoolhouse library instead. Children are provided with their own library bag on enrolment and families can borrow as often as they like. We offer a range of books, from children's story books to parenting guides.

Fresh Produce 'Market'

With an acre of land at our disposal, gardening is a big part of our outdoor program. Children have the opportunity to work in our veggie patch, pick fruit from the trees and plant new herbs. We use this produce in our meals, but also like to share what the children have grown with their families. We often put out our market stand and families are able to help themselves to whatever is seasonally available. We love to hear about what they cooked with it at home.

Book Club

We regularly participate in 'The Little Big Book Club,' an initiative of Raising Literacy Australia.

Each chosen book of the month will target a different age group, so you can be sure there will be something suitable for your child no matter their age. We read the story together and then complete some hands-on activities designed to explore the text further.

Excursions

We take regular trips into the local community, exploring new places such as playgrounds, shops and even having play dates with other family day care groups.
